As The Wind Blows
There’s a cup of weak coffee in front of me
The massive crowd is all you can see
Can’t understand why we can’t be
Known to the world
So here: a toast, to the cynical
True love has always seemed like a miracle
And now, before I get too emotional
I have to say something
Because I don’t know if you know
There’s way too many things untold
And so, before we get too old
I raise my glass to you
Chorus:
The doodling on paper napkins
Reminiscent of those days
They’ve all been stored deep within
Impossible to walk away
All I’ve got’s a ticket stub
And the blisters on my toes
And a list of all the 50 states
The rest leaves as the wind blows
Photograph lying on my floor
It’s as if I’m waging a constant war
Between me and my locked door
Behind which you stand
There’s shit on the radio
It doesn’t soothe the pain, you know
I want to get in your car and just let it go
Feel the wind through my hair
But I don’t know if you care
Are you happy over there
Please, will you pay this fare
Broken hearts ain’t cheap
Chorus
It’s been a long, long time
I don’t know if I’ll be fine
Because I thought you were mine
Don’t you recall those words
And it’s you I can’t lose
They say love is for fools
Still, the end of my fuse
You’ve colored the rainbow for me
I miss those nice long walks
I think we need to talk
There’s an image I can’t block
It’s of you and I, the happy times
Chorus

I like it-the words are simple but the meaning isn’t. My kind of thing. Do you ever write out the music to your lyrics? If you do, it’d be cool to see them up here sometime^^
